Transport owners have demanded that bus fares be adjusted with fuel prices. They will sit in a meeting with the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) at 5 pm today (Saturday).
Secretary General of Bangladesh Road Transport Owners Association Khandkar Enayet Ullah told that the government has increased the price of fuel oil by 50 percent from yesterday (Friday) night. This has increased the cost of operating buses. So it is important to adjust the bus fare.
He also said that a meeting will be held with BRTA on this afternoon.
Earlier, the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources announced the increase in fuel prices on Friday night.
According to the announcement, the price of diesel and kerosene has increased by Tk 34 per litre, octane by Tk 46 and petrol by Tk 44. After the price increase, diesel will be bought at Tk 114, kerosene at Tk 114, octane at Tk 135 and petrol at Tk 130.
